What is Xeriscaping?
Xeriscaping is an alternative method of landscaping specifically designed to reduce (or eliminate) the need for watering. Xeriscaping uses a combination of plants that are drought tolerant or drought resistant, native to the area, eco-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing while implementing proper bed design to take full advantage of rainfall without losing water by evaporation or run off. Xeriscaping is synonymous with "water wise" or "waste-efficient" landscaping.
Advantages of Xeriscaping
Advantages of xeriscaping include reduced water consumption year round, less maintenance, reduction/elimination of lawn mowing, and increased plant survival during drought conditions. Some enthusiasts tout that xierscaping looks better than common turf and provides great color and variety (even in the winter months). As well, there is more time to enjoy the scenery as you spend less time watering, mowing, and weeding.

You may think "plants that don't need water...cactus!" and while you would be correct, this isn't what we have in mind from a design perspective. There are many common plants utilized in xeriscaping - naming them all would take up many pages. Want to see some of our work? Click the button below.
